  All Ultraviolet filters should be mounted in a horizontal position to prevent condensation buildup in the quartz sleeve.      How to install an Aqua Ultraviolet filter.

A wiper is a squeegee-type rubber fitting around the quartz sleeve, connected to a handle which can be pulled and pushed to clean off the quartz sleeve.

  How does an Aqua Ultraviolet filter work?

Black "Classic" Ultraviolet Units:

Black housing, same side ports, no wiper(s). The "Classic Models" are the standard models, as pictured above, with the intake and output ports facing the same direction and an "EZ Twist" cap. An "EZ Twist" cap allows access to the quartz sleeve and bulb at the electrical end of the unit.

Black "Classic" Ultraviolet Units with Wipers:

Black housing, same side ports, with wiper(s) and an "EZ Twist" cap. An "EZ Twist" cap allows access to the quartz sleeve and bulb at the electrical end of the unit.

A wiper is a squeegee-type rubber fitting around the quartz sleeve and is connected to a handle which can be pulled and pushed to clean off the quartz sleeve. This feature allows for the cleaning of the quartz sleeve without the need to disassemble the unit. Illustration of wiper.
